Gaslamp Quarter

The Gaslamp Quarter is San Diego's premier dining, shopping and entertainment district. You'll find an eclectic mix of food, fun and culture, all within one of San Diego's most historic areas. The 16½-block national historic district contains many Victorian-style commercial buildings that were constructed between 1873 and 1930 rose as efforts were made to supplant San Diego's Old Town with a new downtown closer to the waterfront.

The Gaslamp is home to many fine art galleries, boutiques, unique shops and specialty stores. At night, the old-fashioned gaslamps glow along the wide brick walkways, illuminating many sidewalk cafes. The Quarter really comes alive after the sun sets as there are over 90 restaurants serving cuisine from around the world, numerous coffee houses, theaters and plenty of nightlife.
